Description
Fan or brisé fan, with associated fan box (E.1945.57.f.2), of tortoiseshell guards and twenty sticks with gold lacquer hiramaki-e (low relief) and takamaki-e (high relief) work. Obverse with three cranes amongst trees. Reverse with quails amongst bamboo. Guards with birds flying above or perching on bamboo. Purple cord tied in decorative knots and two purple silk tassels with ivory ojime (bead). Metal loop at pivot.
